Templates let you create new SharePoint sites and Teams with the same structure and governance settings every time. Open them from Templates in the sidebar.

Browse templates

  • Switch between grid view for browsing and list view when you know what you want.
  • Filter by SharePoint or Teams.
  • Search by name, description, or tag.
  • Sort by recently updated, most deployed, name, or kind.
  • Preview a template in the side panel to see its structure, libraries, and default permissions without deploying anything.

Create a template

Templates are reusable blueprints. They don’t include owners or members. You add those each time you deploy.
1

Choose workload

Pick SharePoint or Teams.
2

Basics

Enter a name and a description.
3

Settings

Set the governance, sharing, and lifecycle settings every workspace from this template gets.
4

Document library

Add the folders and files new workspaces start with.
5

Review & save

Check everything and save the template.
New templates appear at the top of the gallery so you can find them right away.

Deploy a template

Deploying turns a template into a live workspace. The deploy wizard uses the same steps as the create wizard, pre-filled from the template, plus a People step where you add the owners and members of the new workspace.
1

Start the deployment

Click Deploy on a template.
2

Adjust the settings

Change the basics, settings, or document library for this workspace if needed.
3

Add people

Add owners and members for the new workspace.
4

Review and deploy

Confirm the details. CtrlConnect shows the deployment progress until the workspace is ready.

Edit or delete a template

You can edit any template, including the built-in ones. Your changes to a built-in template are saved for your tenant. Deleting a template asks for confirmation and doesn’t affect workspaces already created from it.
